Confined Space Rescue

Why train for Confined Space?

Confined space can be extremely challenging and hazardous. Proper training at awareness, operations, and technician levels is crucial if you are involved in this type of work or rescue. We offer training at all three levels to take the student from basic awareness to full fledged entry rescue capable. Hours may vary on classes based on the needs and number of students.

Awareness Level - 8 hours

This entry level class teaches the student the basic OSHA regulations governing confined spaces, how to recognize and classify confined spaces, and assist during a confined space emergency.

Operations Level - 16 to 20 hours

This class is for those departments that may be involved in confined space rescue and recovery. The student will learn the OSHA standards for dealing with confined space work and rescue. It provides a working knowledge of confined space operations and equipment needed. The student will learn to work with retrieval devices such as tripods, ventilation, monitors, breathing equipment, and PPE required. Students will test their ability to move and work in a confined space, as well as use breathing apparatus.

A certificate will be issued upon successful completion of the class.

Technician Level - 40 to 48 hours

This class is for those departments that will be providing confined space rescue operations. The student will learn everything in the operations level as well as being trained in use of SABA with escape bottle, basic ropes and mechanical advantage systems, and patient packaging devices. The class will provide for extensive practical work in different types of confined spaces.

A certificate will be issued upon successful completion of the class.

All confined space operations and technician level classes meet and exceed the NFPA 1006 standard for technical rescue.
