Ropes

R.E.D.S Rope Classes

The Team offers various rope classes from basic to technician. We teach tower rescue as well as tactical rappelling for law enforcement. The Team can also teach the North Carolina Ropes Technician Certification through the Community Colleges.

This class is about 80 hours and is broken into modules. You must be a NC Rescue Technician before taking the Ropes Technician classes.

High Angle Rope Operations - 16 to 24 Hours

This class teaches care and maintenance for ropes and rope hardware, knot tying and their applications, basic basket rigging for lowers, lowering systems, and basic rappelling. Students should be in good physical shape to take any of the ropes classes.

 

 

Technician - 40 to 80 Hours

This class covers everything in operations as well as mechanical advantage systems, rescue pick offs, lifts and raise's, and highline operations.

 

Tower Rescue

This class is designed to teach rope rescue techniques when performing rescues on water towers, radio towers, cell towers, or TV towers. Students should have operational level ropes training. The class is physically demanding and students should be in good physical shape.

 

 

 

Tactical Ropes 16 to 40 Hours

This class is for SWAT teams, ERT teams, building extrication teams, snipers, and military. This class teaches basic rope skills as to knots and their applications, equipment and care, rappelling, lock off positioning, window entry, pick off rescue, and victim rescue. This is a hands-on class.
