NC Surface Water Rescue Technician - 40 to 48 hours
This program follows the NC DOI outline for Surface Water Rescue Technician. Students must be able to successfully pass a swim test, and should be in good physical condition. The class covers swiftwater mechanics and hazards, rescue techniques, boat operations, and rope rescue as related to water operations. Students will be required to successfully complete the practical skills and pass a written exam to be NC certified.



Swiftwater Rescue Technician - 40 to 60 hours
This class follows the NFPA 1670 guidelines and covers swiftwater hydrology, hazards, reading the "river", lifeguard skills, strong swimmer skills, throw and reach rescue techniques, boat operations and rescue, swim rescue techniques, and highline rescue techniques. Students taking this class should be good swimmers, in good physical condition, and have a good basic knowledge of rope rescue. The class requires successfully completing practical skills as well as a written exam.



Surf Rescue - 16 to 20 hours
This class teaches water rescue in coastal type environments. The class puts emphasis on boat handling and boat rescue, but also covers strong swimmer rescue. Students should be good swimmers and in good physical condition.
